Masterclass Gemmy Jackson,
production designer-ky Game of Thrones
Fest 2016 / 20. – 27.6.2016 / Portugalsko
Another big name confirmed for this year’s Training Ground.
Art director and production designer Gemma Jackson – who was nominated for an Oscar and BAFTA for her work in Finding Neverland (starring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet) – is the most recent addition to the list of guest speakers that will attend and share their knowledge at FEST – Training Ground.
Having recently finished Guy Ritchie’s Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur – which stars Jude Law, Charlie Hunnam and Erica Bana – Jackson has worked with directors such as Richard Eyre (Notes on a Scandal), Mark Herman (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas), Marc Forster (The Kite Runner), and is a frequent collaborator of director David Mamet (The Untouchables).
But Jackson has also lent her expertise to TV. She is well-known for her work on Game of Thrones’ seasons 1, 2 and 3: she was responsible for designing, building, and dressing the sets used in filming the series, including the Iron Throne itself and the sets for TV-history-bond episode “The Rains of Castamere”. For her work on the series, Jackson was awarded an Emmy for outstanding art direction and an Art Directors Guild Award for excellence in production design.
In 2008 Jackson worked as a production designer on the TV mini-series John Adams, which got her an Emmy award. Jackson’s most recently seen design is the disquieting environment for the TV series Fortitude (2015), staring Stanley Tucci.
This will surely be an excellent and insightful masterclass.
