PROF. PETER ČANECKÝ (1957)
– head of the department of scenography
He graduated in scenography from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in 1983. Prof. Čanecký has worked there since 1990 and has chaired the department since 2007. He teaches COSTUME PRODUCTION, SPACE-COSTUME-LIGHT and PRACTICAL PROJECTS. His work for theatre and film has received many awards in the competition for the Theatre Award of the Season – DOSKY for Best Costume of the Season (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013) and the 2008 National Film Award The Sun in a Net for Best Artistic Achievement.
PROF. JOZEF CILLER (1942)
He graduated in scenography from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in 1968. Prof. Ciller has been teaching in the department since 1990 and was its head until 2006. He teaches SPACE-COSTUME-LIGHT and PRACTICAL PROJECTS. He has received several awards on domestic and foreign stages for longstanding artistic achievements. In 1974 he won the Gold Medal in Novi Sad, Serbia, in 1975 and 1983 the Gold Medal of the Prague Quadrennial, in 1987 the Silver Medal of the Prague Quadrennial. In 2007 he received the award of the Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for his lifelong achievements in the arts and humanities and other prizes.
DOC. AKAD. MAL. MILAN RAŠLA (1946)
He graduated in landscape and figurative painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava in 1970. He has worked in the Department of Stage and Costume Design since 1987 and was its secretary. Between 1996 and 2011 he was the Vice-Rector of the Academy of Performing Arts. From 2011 to 2015 he was its Rector.
He has received several awards: the Annual Award of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava for prints and paintings (1970), the Turčianska Gallery Prize at the Biennale of Book Art Martin (1997), the prize for the author’s book Poems J. Š. – Paintings M. R., first prize of critics at Mercurdo, the international festival of absurdity (2005) in Italy, first prize of critics at the international festival of visual art in Italy (2007), the prize of the jury at the 5th Biennial of Creative Visual Art in 2014. He was awarded the Identification Code of Slovakia (2009). He teaches the courses SCENOGRAPHIC STUDIO, DRAWING AND PAINTING and PLEIN AIR PAINTING.
DOC. ALEXANDRA GRUSKOVÁ (1968)
She graduated in scenography from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in 1994. Assoc. Prof. Alexandra Grusková has worked in the department since 2000, teaching the courses SCENOGRAPHIC STUDIO and COSTUME PRODUCTION. In 1998 and 1999 she won the Theatre Award of the Season – DOSKY for Best Scenography of the Season and Best Costume of the Season. Between 1996 and 2010 she was nominated for Best Scenography of the Season and Best Costume of the Season nine times. In 2004 she received the Tatra Bank Award for Art.
DOC. JÁN KOCMAN (1973)
He graduated in puppetry scenography and technology from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in 1997. In the same year he started teaching in the Department of Scenography at the Academy of Performing Arts. He teaches SCENOGRAPHIC STUDIO and COSTUME PRODUCTION.
He has received domestic and foreign awards, including Theatre Now 2013! a selection from Best Theatre Productions in the world in 2013 by ITI / UNESCO, Junge Ohren Preis for Best Production, and was nominated for the National Film Award The Sun in a Net for Best Costume and several other international awards.
ING. ARCH. MGR. ART. JÁN PTAČIN, ARTD. (1986)
He graduated in scenography from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in 2011 and in architecture from the University of Technology in Brno in 2013. He has worked in the Department of Scenography since 2014. He is concerned with establishing stage lighting design as an independent discipline and teaches LIGHTING DESIGN, PERSPECTIVE AND LIGHTING, COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN, INTRODUCTION TO ARCHITECTURAL WORK and PRODUCTION PRACTICE.
